The most expensive car available for purchase in Australian market is the Pagani Huayra Roadster for just $6.5 million driveaway, from Zagame Automotive in Melbourne. There are a number of reasons why the Pagani Huayra Roadster is value-for-money (if you have it, that is) despite the hefty price tag!
Considering that only 100 Roadsters are made worldwide, it makes the car unique around the world! This car attracts attention, whether it wants to or not! I mean, you don’t have to be a supercar enthusiast to notice that the car is special! I mean, my friend whoes dreamcar used to be a VW Beetle was mesmorised when I dragged her along to see the Huayra with me.
The car has the same engine as the coupe – 6.0 L twin turbo AMG V12 producing 764hp. It can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in less than 3 seconds and it has a top speed of over 300 km/h. Thanks to the engineering wizardry that went into creating this car, you can enjoy the beast on track to its fullest potential regardless of your driving skill level!
I mean sure, Australia’s legal top speed on the road is 110 km/h and on most roads you would be doing 60 km/h but this is not an everyday use car and as Jeremy Clarkson once said “you never take your wrist watch into space but it’s nice to know that it would still work if you did”. It’s worth every penny whether you decide to keep it in your garage and to only look at for an hour everyday or to drive it to a track once a year or whatever use you decide for it.
Inside the cabin the combination of the bare carbon fibre, the brushed aluminium and leather gives the hypercar a luxurious feel. The crazy gadgets look like they were taken from a fighter jet. (Maybe a F14 Tomcat?) The highlight of the style craziness for the Huayra is the gear shifter! The mechanism is exposed so you can see and hear the gear being selected! The car also shows some small, gorgeous details; one example is that the name badge and the wheels are carved out of a single piece of aluminium – I mean no wonder each car takes 4 months to be made!
Pagani has what large supercar manufacturers had a couple of decades ago. It has a freedom from corporate culture that’s reflected in the car’s design and engineering that gives the car a special soul. It is crazy and out of this world because it’s not restricted by “sale numbers” – they let the engineers experiment and take the car to its limits and out of its comfort zone, and that, to me at least, is something special.
There might be some people right now who could actually afford one of these and it’s the job of you, me and everybody else to stand around and join together in a chorus; DO IT! So, if you can afford it, DO IT!
