We know that the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are finally getting an overdue upgrade, sad news however is that despite earlier reports, the new generation 86 and BRZ won’t be turbocharging according to a new report out of Japan.

The upgraded cars will instead be fitted with a naturally aspirated Subaru designed 2.4 litre four cylinder ‘FA24’ engine. This will bump up the existing power output from 152kW(204hp)/219Nm to 162kW(217hp)/240Nm.

It’s estimated that the next generation 86 and BRZ will hit Japanese markets in March 2021, so they will most likely find their way into Australian market in the second half of 2021.
