Audi Sport, the brand’s performance division, is planning S and RS versions of Audi’s new hybrid and electric models.
Autocar has reported that the upcoming e-tron GT will be following Audi’s traditional model structure; regular, S variant and RS.
When the e-tron GT was introduced in concept form, it featured all wheel drive electric powertrain and had two electric motors for each axle and a 90kWh battery. It could produce 582 horsepower and reach 100km/h from rest in just 3.5 seconds. The e-tron GT also had a range estimate of 400 km.
The e-tron GT uses the same J1 platform as the Porsche Taycan. It is unclear whether the e-tron GT variants will mirror the power outputs of the Taycan range – 4S, Turbo and Turbo S.
The most likely outcome will be Audi giving Porsche some breathing room, by offering lower power output to go along with its most likely lower price tag.
The production version of the e-tron GT will make its official debut at this year’s LA Auto Show, and Autocar reports that the S model will also be introduced alongside it, with RS following a year later in 2021.
