One of my favourite cars is the Apollo Intensa Emozione (IE) and it gives me intense emotions! In this world where most of the V8s and V12s are getting replaced with hybrids and fully electric versions, Apollo went “you know what? We miss the GT1 days of the 90s.” So, they went away and created a fantastic car to pay a modern tribute to that era – most notably the CLK-GTR the most successful GT1 car of all time – no questions asked!
After years of development, mostly in secret, Apollo is finally ready to deliver the Intensa Emozione to its loyal customers. Yesterday, the most spectacularly speced IE, the Golden Dragon, was revealed in an exclusive event in Japan and delivered to its lucky owner! Do note that the Golden Dragon is the second customer production IE, the first being the Orange Dragon (below) going to its new home in Miami soon.
The Golden Dragon has a spectcular colour and what makes it more unique is that you can still see the bare carbon fibre body and that’s not even the best feature! The best feature of this car; the triple exhaust! I mean can you believe that an exhaust can be so beautiful? If cars had a food chain, this guy would be the highest predator on the list.
To really understand and appreciate the unique design of the car you have to look at the design of the rear spoiler and how it’s connected to the central strut, you don’t really see that in any other car.
The interior looks futuristic thanks to its minimalistic design. It is not your typical leather seats and excessive placement of buttons your steering wheel and middle console. The steering wheel and the way that its set up is quite different to other cars.
Let’s talk about the best part of the car; its engine! It’s powered by a beautiful naturally aspirated 6.3 litre V12 producing 780 hp and 759 Nm of torque! IE can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in under 3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 335km/h! When the car roars into life it is aggressive and it is a fantastic sounding V12. The sad news is only 10 IEs will be made, 2 of which have already been delivered to their lucky owners. I do want to congratulate the people responsible for creating this glorious creature because they have done a bloody fantastic job!
